Thespians are students in grades 9-12 who excel in theatre. To be inducted, one must obtain 25 Thespian points (each point is approximately 5 hours of work) and 3 concessions points. Students participate in shows either by being an actor or working a technical crew, such as costumes, set decoration, set construction, hair and makeup, publicity, electricians, backstage audio, sound board, light board, props, stage crew, assistant directing, or stage management. Claremont High School inducts new thespians once a year at our annual theatre banquet. Once inducted, you are a thespian for life. CHS has thespian meetings in the theatre every Tuesday at lunch.

What is the international thespian festival?
The annual Thespian Festival at the University of Nebraska is the premiere event on the high school theatre calendar. The week showcases great high school performances on four stages, a wealth of learning opportunities for students and educators in workshops and master classes, a student leadership program, auditions for college admission and Thespian scholarships, the Thespian Playworks student playwriting program, and much more. Very few of our thespians attend this festival but those who do have had the time of their lives. It's a wonderful experience only for those who are the most passionate about theatre.
