Throughout the school year, CHS students are given the opportunity to compete and several competions and receive scholarships to further progress their theatre experience. Over the years these students been extremely successful in competitions and have recieved a vast amount of scholarships.

Spotlight is a free scholarship opportunity available for high-school students across Southern California. Students go through several rounds of auditions and take masterclasses. Students may compete in the categories of acting, ballet, classical instrumental, classical voice, jazz instrumental, non-classical dance, or non-classical voice. At the end of the competition, up to $5,000 will be awarded to the finalist. It is a great way to learn audition skills and improve techniques.
LAMDA or London Academy of Music and Dramatic Arts is a very prestigious and generous school in England. They have taught some of the finest actors, including Benedict Cumberbatch, Ginnifer Goodwin, and Donald Sutherland. Once a year, an examiner from the school will fly over to our general area and conduct exams. If the exam is passed then the examinee will receive a certificate and medal for their excellence. These medals are regarded very highly in the showbiz world. You can test at a bronze level, silver level, or gold level.
August Wilson is a free monologue competition which celebrates the words of Pulitzer Prize and Tony award playwright, August Wilson. Students have the opportunity to win a cash scholarship as well as a trip to New York City to see a Broadway show. This competition incourages students to express themselves through theatre.
